Why Invest in Young Musicians?

As parents of young musicians, we have chosen to invest in the future of our children through fueling their musical education with our finances, time & resources. Sometimes the "vibe" lasts well into their high school years & even beyond, but for some - not so much. Other interests compete with music and the incentive isn't strong enough to capture & keep their interest. The cool thing though is that even a year of private lessons will make a positive impact on a young mind that he/she will never forget. I teach adult students who remembered those private lessons "back in the day" and chose to return to cultivate the gift of music once more. Priceless! ...and all for the love of music.
I like sharing with parents of my students (especially those who are discouraged about their childs fading interest) that even a minimal amount of musical education is beneficial. Did you know that a musical education builds confidence, improves reading comprehension, increases attention span, as well as teaches multitasking and creativity? Students who learned to play a stringed instrument at a young age and continued to play throughout high school not only scored higher comprehensively but were ahead of their non-music peers by a year. The desire to achieve in general increased dramatically.
Amazing, isn't it!
I am a product of parents choosing to sacrificially invest - so grateful they did. I also turned around as a parent and invested a musical education in all four of my own children.
Keep investing - it is so worth it!
